My Other Cardboard Collection: Omaha, NE

"My Other Cardboard Collection" is a series of posts in which I show off golf scorecards that I have accumulated over the years from golf courses I've played.

One of the best parts about living in Omaha is the golf scene.  There are dozens of courses in the Omaha Metro area, many of which are very reasonably priced.

Here are a handful of score cards from the Omaha Metro area.

First up is Eagle Hills Golf Course.  Located in the southeastern corner of the Metro area, Eagle Hills is probably my favorite course to play on a budget.  If you know the right places to look during the golf season, it is possible to find "Buy One, Get One Free" greens fees coupons for this course, which is a fantastic deal for a high quality course.

Another great budget-friendly course is Tregaron Golf Course.  Tregaron is about a five minute drive south from Eagle Hills, so their layouts are very similar.  Both courses have fairly straight-forward front-9s that work their way through housing developments and both courses have fantastic and challenging back-9s.

Like its neighbor to the north, Tregaron can be played at a reduced rate during the golf season if you play your cards right. 

Omaha is home to about a half dozen 27-hole golf facilities.  One of these 27-holers is Tiberon Golf Club.

While the layout for this course is solid and has always been in immaculate condition whenever I've played it, my biggest gripe with Tiberon is that I've encountered quite a bit of over-booking of tee-times on the weekends.  It once took me nearly three hours to complete nine-holes on a Sunday morning.  So, if you don't mind a leisurely day on the course, then this is the one for you.

One of my favorite courses in the Omaha area is Quarry Oaks Golf Course.  It is a fantastic track. 

Quarry Oaks is consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Public Golf Courses by Golf Digest and is worth every dollar it costs to play, which, as the scorecard below boast, is not that many, because Quarry Oaks is one of the most affordable high-end golf courses in America according to Golf Digest.

Located on Interstate-80 between Omaha and Lincoln on the Platte River, this course is the perfect representation of eastern Nebraska golf: rolling fairways lined with trees, forced carries, numerous elevation changes, and perfect putting surfaces.

So, if you are ever in the Omaha area for a long weekend and are looking for a place to swing your clubs, you really can't go wrong with any of these courses.
