Colorado Collection: Chauncey Billups

Today's Colorado Collection entrant is NBA point guard Chauncey Billups.

Born in Denver, CO, Chauncey attended George Washington High School, where, according to his Wikipedia page, he "was a four-time All-State first team pick, Colorado Mr. Basketball three times, and Colorado Player of the Year as a sophomore and as a junior. He was selected to the 1995 McDonald's All-American Team but did not play due to a shoulder injury."

After high school, Chauncey stated in-state and attended the University of Colorado.  After two years (and the schools first NCAA 1st Round victory in 30 years), Chauncey was drafted 3rd overall by the Boston Celtics in 1997.

Chauncey's NBA career has been filled with many highs (including being named NBA Finals MVP after his Pistons won the NBA Championship in 2004 and leading his team to 7-consecutive conference finals) and a handful of lows (most recently being traded to the NY Knicks).

If you would like to learn a little more about Chauncey, I recommend this Outside The Lines article by Tom Friend.

Chauncey is one of Colorado's most successful athletes and I'm proud to have one of his autographed cards.
